A 106-year-old woman has been celebrating her birthday on the wrong day all her life.

Lena Thouless, from Norwich, England, had thought she reached the staggering age on November 22, when she and her great-grandchildren marked the occasion with a party at the care home where she lives.

But her daughter Lena Brooks has only just discovered her mother's real birthday is actually the day before after finding a copy of her birth certificate.

Mrs Brooks said: "We were quite surprised when we found it out. I have asked but no one in the family has any idea how the mishap occurred.
