Katheryn Maloney and Brady Cullinan took to making earrings and necklaces out of cicadas, after a swarm of the bugs infested their town.

The teenagers, from Sandwich in Massachusetts, put the bugs to good use after lacquering their carcasses.

They said that while some people think their creations are "gross", others are really impressed with their unique take on jewellery.
