Fish and trip

1 month ago 29th Nov 13:15

A British adventurer has been sitting in a frozen fish truck to prepare for a South Pole expedition.

Rachel Andrews, 41, used Moby Nicks' freezer van to get used to sub-zero temperatures before her 430-mile race across the Antarctic Plateau.

The vehicle's temperature can be lowered to -25C, but the Plymouth-born woman will be facing coldness of up to -50C during her epic quest.

Rachel has spent hours at a time in the truck practising how to cook in the cold.

I need to prepare and this is the closest thing you can get to the South Pole without actually leaving the country.

She said: "I need to prepare and this is the closest thing you can get to the South Pole without actually leaving the country.

"The only problem is that I smell of fish now, but it is useful to get used to the cold.

Rowing champion James Cracknell and TV presenter Ben Fogle are expected to compete in the challenge.
