A tramp died leaving £34,000 in unclaimed pension money.
Josef Stawinoga, 86, shunned worldly goods and lived in a tent in Wolverhampton, Central England, for more than 40 years.
Josef, or Fred as he was nicknamed, was of Polish origin and widely believed to have been involved in the Soviet invasion of Poland before relocating to England in the 1940s.
By 1967, for unknown reasons, Josef had given up his job and home and erected a tent on the central grass reservation of the town's inner ring road. He became regarded as a holy man by local Sikh and Hindu communities who believed he led a truly enlightened life.
Josef died of pneumonia in winter 2007. The Treasury Solicitor has advertised for any relatives to come forward and claim his pension money.
