Scotland Doomed

Postby Gibbous Moon on Fri Aug 15, 2008 4:39 pm

Two articles in the Scotsman today (not noticeably owned by the state so probably unbiased enough to wrap your chip supper in) reporting that Scotland’s population grew by the largest amount since the baby boom and that Scots are the third happiest nation in Europe.

The population of Scotland stands at 5.14m, and is expected to rise to 5.37m over the coming decades. The key driver of population is growth is migration from outside the UK.

Scotland ranks behind Switzerland and Denmark, with an average satisfaction of 8.06 out of 10. Analysts cite our community and family focus as reasons to be cheerful.

That's more than NZ, at any rate - just...

Less than Victoria;

Less than Georgia;

Less than Israel;

Less than New South Wales..

My family surname has a tartan - looks pretty boring, actually - so it would want to have a nice hand to it, I reckon...

Oh,and I did also see where the clan also has it's own whiskey line as well..

Now, that's style - a scotch with the family name on it - that alone should be a good reason to visit there, one of these days...

The key issue is that Scotland was de-populating until the recent EU expansion. As a people, and as a nation we are not viable without immigration/EU migration.

A cynic might take the view that too many people are voting with their feet.

not that i'm cynical or anything...
