They are the Arms of the Plantagenets, during the reign of HM King Edward I (1272-1307) from whom I am directly descended.

The Plantagenets...a big family!!!! Did you know they apparently were cursed by early deaths and a tendency not to have children? Glad to see you broke the mould Colonel. :D

What can I say ... I have Darwin on my side! :lol:

...or is that too cheeky? :lol:

Not cheeky at all :wink:

Donno about the barren part. Longshank's grandson, Edward III, had five sons (Edward—the Black Prince, Lionel of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence, John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, Edmund of Langley, Duke of York and Thomas of Woodstock, Duke of Gloucester) and four daughters (Isabella, Joan, Mary and Margaret).

The Yorks and the Lancasters started the Wars of the Roses, so the Plantagenets would probably have been better off if they were a bit more barren. :lol:

Hollywood efforts at rewriting history, over the years, have included -

* America capturing an Enigma machine;

* Anything concerning Pearl Harbour;

* "Saving Private Ryan";

* "Band of Brothers";

* "Braveheart";

* "El Cid"

* "Spartacus"

* "Sands of Iwo Jima"

No bullsh!tter like a Hollywood bullsh!tter, is there ???

So do I...

But I also had G&P, and a couple of others, to play off back in the early months of this year..

Then it just petered out.

the silly love story aside in "Titanic," James Cameron did a lot of work in diving the wreck, researching documented reports and findings, building models and computer programs to test theories, to make that film. He worked directly with Dr. Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck of the Titanic in 1985.

True, I like the film as a whole - but the love story detracts from the history. Just the same in Pearl Harbor.

If it's history you want, you'll have to watch a documentary. I don't think documentaries do too well at the cinema. :wink:

Not true. Films such as the Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far and Laurence of Arabia did exceptionally well as movies - all historically accurate.

Haven't heard of those except Lawrence of Arabia. It's one that I should view though. Isn't that an Oscar winner?

Black Hawk Down is suppose to be detailed accurate.... at least that's what I saw from interviews given by officers that were there when all that happened.
