maybe you're a model or something but how the hell would most people feel being exhibited on tv infront of millions of people without being able to patch yourself up at all? People won't even go into a pub without looking like what they feel is respectable so how should people expect it to be acceptable on tv? What if you just have a basic level of self consciousness and are not being "shallow"? I don't understand why it makes someone an "airhead".
