David Duchovny is set to star in comedy drama 'The Joneses'.

The 'X-Files' actor - who recently entered a rehabilitation clinic to be treated for sex addiction - will star alongside Demi Moore and Amber Heard in the film, which follows an affluent family as they move into a new neighbourhood.

The family immediately become well-known in the town, with their neighbours quick to praise their good-looks and wealth of expensive possessions.

However, the townsfolk have no idea the family are actually all actors who are taking part in a product placement experiment.

A large corporation is paying them to pretend to be a family in the hope their neighbours will be seduced into buying increasingly amounts of luxury goods as they desperately try to 'keep up with the Joneses'.

To further complicate matters, the father of the family - played by David - begins to suffer a crisis of conscience as he becomes more bound up in the lie.

Demi's 'mother' figure begins to develop genuine feeling for her fake husband, while 'daughter' Amber also tries to seduce her supposed father.
