Minnie Driver is preparing to bring up her unborn baby as a single mother - insisting she doesn't know if she will stay with the mystery father.

The actress has never revealed who fathered the baby, and is already assembling a team of friends and family to make the impending birth a man-free zone.

Driver tells the New York Post, "I'm not married and I don't know if I will stay with the guy. It's great to be an independent creature. Today you don't need a man anymore. In the old days, have a baby without marriage and people would put you out. Today you speak about it on talk shows.

"My mom and Aunt Serena will be with me, as will my best friends, a midwife and a yoga teacher. And I'll be the wailing monster at the centre".

In seperate news the pregnant Minnie Driver has applauded the angry surfers who came to her rescue when a quiet day at the beach turned into a paparazzi invasion last month (Jun08).

Driver, actor pal Colin Farrell and his young son were relaxing at Paradise Cove in Malibu, California when an army of photographers targeted them for pictures.

Farrell himself challenged one group of snappers but when he was outnumbered, local surfers stepped in to let the cameramen know they weren't welcome.
