Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah opened a mosque in Morocco on Monday night (21.07.08).
The monarch unveiled a plaque and prayed at the mosque - which has been named after him - in the city of Bouskoura.
The king also inspected the mosque's facilities during a tour, and met the contractors who were responsible for building the place of worship.
He was accompanied by senior officials including Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal and Chief of Intelligence Prince Muqrin.
As the king arrived at the mosque - which is 3,200 square metres, fully air-conditioned and can accommodate 6,600 worshippers - he was welcomed by the Moroccan Minister of Endowments Ahmed Towfeek and Casablanca Governor Muhammad Al-Qabbaj.
The facility has a separate women's prayer hall to cater for 1,200 worshippers.
It also boasts housing for the imam - the mosque leader - and muezzin - who leads the call (adhan) to prayer - along with a storehouse and advanced sound system.
