Samia Smith is always approached by fans who think her 'Coronation Street' character is real.
The 26-year-old actress - who plays Maria Connor in the soap - admits she can't understand why people believe the storyline in the programme is actually occurring in real life.
She said: "I've had little old ladies coming over to tell me to keep an eye on Liam, or saying they will give Carla a slap for me! It amazes me that so many people think the soap is real."
Samia's co-star Gray O'Brien, who plays Tony Gordon, also revealed he is slightly nervous how fans will treat him when some of the autumn storylines for his character are revealed.

He said: "I am bracing myself for what people will say over the next few months when they see more bad behaviour from Tony - I hope they don't think that it is real!"
